Bromley U3A
The Bromley University of The Third Age, or U3A for short, is one of more than
250 U3A's in the United Kingdom with a total membership of over 35,000 people.
Bromley University of The Third Age is a non-profit charity that started in
November 1989. It now has more than 1,500 members and over 80 study groups.
It is open to anyone in the Bromley area who has retired from full-time
employment. Most of the U3A activities are provided by study groups, the
emphasis is on learning for pleasure, so you don't have to sit any
examinations to take part in their activities.
You can enjoy lots of interesting subjects, including Arts and Crafts, Bird
Watching, Bridge, Calligraphy, Current Affairs, Gardening, Genealogy,
Heraldry, History, Languages, and Literature. Or why not try Local Studies,
Maths, Music, Personal Finance, Recreation, Science & Technology, Theatre, or
Travel.
Members are encouraged to help with new groups and subject areas, many groups
meet simply to share members knowledge and expertise, so it is not always
necessary to hold formal qualifications to start a new study group. Some study
groups organise visits or talks and Bromley U3A issues six newsletters a year
to keep members in touch with local and national events.
If you are retired and live in the Borough of Bromley and would like more
information about Bromley U3A, contact the membership secretary Christina
Jaques on the following number: 020 8857 1201.
