St Christopher's Hospice
St Christopher's Hospice is a Christian Foundation which offers
skilled medical care to a majority of patients with advanced
cancer but also some with Motor Neurone Disease or HIV related
illnesses. The hospice also offers support to patients families.
Care is provided free of charge and is available to anyone
regardless of faith or origin from Bromley, Croydon and South
East London.
In addition to the ward service, St Christopher's has a Home Care
Service, a Day Centre, a Bereavement Service, Nursing Home, Study
Centre and Nursery. The hospice is an open Christian community
with staff from all denominations and the non-committed, there
are also 350 volunteers helping in the hospice and the charity
shops.
The nursing home and nursery are open to people other than staff
and patients, open days are held so that members of the public
can look around the hospice. A library and bookshop is available
for use by health care professionals, and public enquiries can be
dealt with by the librarian.
No charges are made for the hospice patient care, one third of
the budget is provided by the NHS and the remainder by donations,
so they need financial support. If you can help, contact the
Fundraising Department at St Christopher's Hospice, 51 Lawrie
Park Road, Sydenham, SE26 6DZ, telephone 020 8778 9252.
