Retired & Senior Volunteers

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Programme, or RSVP for short, is a branch of the Community Service Volunteers for people in the 50 plus age group. It is built on the belief that the over 50's hold a vast resource of experience, enthusiasm and time which can be a great asset in dealing with the needs of the community.

Launched in the UK in 1986, the current RSVP membership exceeds 3000, with a national network of people able to make use of their lifelong skills. RSVP develops projects which match the needs of older volunteers to those in their communities.

RSVP recognises that everyone has something to contribute as a volunteer and will be made welcome members of the team. The volunteers will find recognition and satisfaction through the work which is supported by training and teamwork.

There are hundreds of projects and activities underway with RSVP groups including help in schools, homes, hospitals, libraries, social clubs, day centres, as well as specialist services such as enginering, secretarial, financial assistance and housing matters.

The RSVP publish a newsletter, and this has information on current projects, including their new video, corporate sponsorships, activities and international contacts.
