Bromley Youth Services

Penge and Beckenham Youth Action Ltd, or PABYA was founded in 1984 with an aim of working in partnership with churches and other organisations to provide a Youth Service. In 1992 they were awarded the contract to provide the London Borough of Bromley Youth Service for the area from Crystal Palace to West Wickham. In addition to club centres this work also involves outreach workers meeting with groups of young people on street corners.

West Wickham is served by the Phoenix Centre and Penge has two projects, Streetwise and Club 2000. In Anerley there is a junior project at Anerley Methodist Church and a legal advice centre.

Services for young people are provided in partnership with other agencies, for provision of meeting places for young people with access to sports and health education facilities. They provide an integrated health education programme that focuses on fitness for life, covering issues such as diet, drugs, smoking, HIV and sexual health. Support for the Duke of Edinburgh Award programme is also provided. In addition a lottery award has been put to good use in providing a mobile youth resource facility for the Borough.

There are now two contacts for the Youth Service, Youth Action 2000 for the West side of the Borough (020 8777 7350) and Youth Agency for the East side (020 8302 8084).
