Carers Bromley
If you have to look after a relative, friend or child who is disabled, ill or
frail, you are among the 1 in every 7 people who is a Carer. It's estimated
that there are about 35,000 men, women and children in the Borough of Bromley
who have taken on the role of Carer, helping with daily physical needs of a
friend or member of the family.
If you are a carer get in touch with Carers Bromley, the Carers information and
support service, who can help with information for all Carers in Bromley, and
offer advice and support in a variety of practical ways. They know what help
is available and how to get these services, including practical home help, day
care, information, welfare benefits, transport and equipment. They also have
services just for Carers, recognising that they have their own needs and
require help, support and information.
Carers Bromley arranges self help groups, a sitters register, a home respite scheme, a
daily telephone check-in, an special card to alert emergency services to the
situation if the Carer is taken ill or has an accident, plus information on
training courses and volunteers, a Carers Forum to give a public voice to
the views and needs of carers. And of course there is always someone to talk
to in complete confidence. A newsletter is available, and social events are
organised as well. You can call in and see them in Orpington during office
hours, or contact them by post or telephone.
