Age Concern Bromley


Age Concern is a National Organisation for older people representing over 1000 local Age Concern groups throughout the country. In Bromley, Age Concern is partly funded by the Local Authority and has offices at Community House. There are also five local Age Concern groups in Bromley. A variety of services are available from the National and Local centres. Nationally, they represent older people through the National Council on Ageing, they issue information through the media and via their own publications.

Age Concern Bromley has a small staff team supported by over 200 volunteers, providing free services to around 15,000 people each year. They offer information and advice, help with health and welfare benefits and services. They have a mobile road show for people who are not able to get to their office in Bromley. They provide support for care-ers, home bathing, odd jobs and transport. Age Concern volunteers work in partnership with local hospitals, providing essential support to patients returning home to help with such things as shopping, letters and phone calls, or simply, as someone to pop in to see that everything is OK.

There are four day centres managed by local groups providing a range of facilities in conjunction with Bromley Social Services. The Bromley office have details of special insurance services, will writing and funeral plans. They issue a quarterly news letter and support campaigns for pensioners including state benefits, housing, fuel, council tax, community care, taxation, investment, crime, housing and transport.
