Bromley Environmental Education Centre High Elms (Beeche)
The scene is the old walled kitchen garden of High Elms Estate which was owned by the Lubbock Family until 1938. The 180 acre estate is now run by Bromley Council and the Education Centre is the latest addition. It is of sustainable construction the walls having a straw bale core. We talked to Joan and Brenda, two of the volunteers, to get their impressions of the new building.
Further up the site, the charcoal burn was under way, this is a regular event and we caught up with Terry, who was packing in the timber.
