  • The Bromley RSPCA need volunteers. We always welcome enquiries from members of the public who would like to help the Branch by volunteering even if for just a few hours of their time to support those in need.   • The St Christopher's Hospice need volunteers - If you enjoy gardening - plants, shrubs always wanted for the patients gardening club and the annual plant sale. Please contact Rebecca Bennett St Christopher's Day centre 020 8768 4500 if you can help.

  • Looking for a Job opportunity?
    The Volunteer Bureau at Community House South Street Bromley put volunteers to work with local charities. Volunteering is all about helping others, but it can also help you if you are looking for employment or work experience.   • Bromley MS Society need volunteers at Northlands, the society day centre, including nurses, drivers and fund raisers - please call 020 8464 3723 if you can help.

  • Work out and help out
    Beckenham Gymnasium "Curves for Women" appeal supports local charities including the Hope Foundation for Families and the shelter for women. Turn up to work out and add to the stockpile of non-perishable foods, for more details on how you can help ring 020 8650 6644.

  • Harris HospisCare (formerly South Bromley HospisCare)
    An independent charity supporting and caring for people throughout the borough of Bromley who face the challenges of coping with terminal illness. Supported by voluntary donations, many of the services it offers are delivered by volunteers. They currently have vacancies in admin, reception work, Day Centre and fundraising as well as Charity Shops. They have a new shop in Bromley and need around 40 new volunteers to support it.     Harris recently opened a purpose built centre on its site close to Orpington Hospital. The New £3.7million Building Project is funded almost entirely from voluntary donations.   • Join the Hour Bank
    Age Concern Bromley have a new scheme called Hour Bank. It is a voluntary local skill swapping scheme that puts people of all ages in touch with each other in the local community and promotes neighbours helping neighbours. It is free to join, there is no exchange of money just peoples time, (time credits). All skills are welcome, for example escorting people to appointments, shopping or doing errands, very simple household repairs, housework, gardening, visiting. For every hour given, you receive an hours credit, (giving and receiving). To help out, call Paul Weatherley, Hour Bank coordinator, Age Concern Bromley, Tel: 020 8315 1850.

  • The Build UP Programme for Painters/Decorators and Carpenters/Joiners. If you are a tradesman/woman who either has: many years work experience but no formal qualifications or City and Guilds qualifications (or time served apprenticeships) the BUILD UP programme offers an opportunity to update and develop your skills to NVQ Level 2. You will also receive a CSCS card. The programme is based on accrediting prior learning. It runs in the evening and at weekends and your site work is not disrupted. We provide: facilities and support to build a portfolio of evidence for the NVQ; preparation for the Health & Safety test; training in Access Equipment and generic units; financial support for travel and childcare costs; learning support (if required).   • St John Ambulance are looking for experienced drivers with four door cars and time available to take patients to and from local hospitals, expenses are paid - please call 07739 300553 if you can help.

  • Bromley Pre-School Alliance are looking for volunteers to work with special needs children on a one-to-one basis. Support and advice is given to volunteers and some expenses are paid. Please call 020 8857 7302 if you can help.

  • The Bromley Citizens Advice Bureau need volunteers to help clients to fill in benefit forms. Training will be given, if you want to help, call 020 8315 1974 for more details.

  • The London Ambulance Service are looking for experienced motorists with four door cars to take patients to London hospitals, expenses are paid, the number to call is 020 7277 8278, or 020 8268 7642

  • Have you any surplus furniture or kitchen equipment? The BCL will collect items donated for needy families, call 020 8315 1914

  • Age Concern urgently need volunteer drivers and escorts to join the hot meals delivery team, a weekend and public holiday service for older people in Bromley, call 020 8315 1850 or e-mail to David Sandford (info@acbromley.org.uk) if you are able to help them.

  • Threshers Day Nursery, which provides a haven for young children in St Mary Cray, is in need of financial support to continue, call: 01689 870772

  • Bromley has a Community Mediation Service based at the Magistrates Court and more people are needed to support this service. If you would like to find out about training to become a Mediator, give them a call on 020 8249 7954.

  • Volunteers are needed at the Age Concern Pop-In-Parlour in Sussex Road, West Wickham. Open from 10am - 2.30pm four days a week, we provide food and drink, friendship, entertainment and a fantastic atmosphere for the over 55's. If you can help please call in.

  • The St John's West Wickham Bell Ringers need recruits. Meeting on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings plus optional social events, they are looking for people over 5ft tall and any age to join the team, call Alys Helm, Tower Captain, on 020 8462 3408 for details.
