The RSPCA Bromley & District Branch need volunteers and fund raisers. They need your help in providing animal welfare services for the whole borough.  They would be delighted to hear from you or your business, school or family, please call 07538 472 822 or email rspca.bromley@virgin.net  

 

The St Christopher's Hospice need volunteers - If you enjoy gardening - driving, meeting people or helping out in the Hospice or Hospice Shops. Please contact Tina Byott on 020 8768 4566 or email t.byott@stchristophers.org.uk

 

Bromley MS Society need volunteers at Northlands, the society day centre, including nurses, drivers, fund raisers and a Premises Manager! - please call Fiona Bentley on 020 8464 3723 if you can help even if it is only for a few hours a month.

 

Harris HospisCare, an independent charity supporting and caring for people in Bromley who face the challenges of coping with terminal illness. Age Concern Bromley Time Bank is a voluntary free local skill swapping scheme, e.g. escorting, shopping, simple household repairs, housework, gardening, visiting.  Call Age Concern Bromley during office hours, Tel: 020 8315 1850 for details.

 

St John Ambulance Bromley have a wide range of volunteering opportunities including transport, community events, first aid - please email unit-leader@bromley.sja.org.uk if you want to take part.

 

 

Orpington Scouts need more uniformed leaders, helpers and administrators to support group activities, details www.scouts.orp.org.uk

 

The Bromley Association of People with Disabilities are in need of volunteer drivers, (BATH) call Daniel on 020 8663 3345.

 

Bromley  Community Mediation Service based at the Magistrates Court need more people. To find out about training to become a Mediator, call 020 8249 7954.

 

CarePlus Bromley support service for the over 65's need volunteers to visit, drive, garden or shop for someone. If you can spare an hour a fortnight please email volunteer@careplusbromley.org.uk or go to the CarePlus link in our Local Organisations list above.

 

Volunteers are needed at the Age Concern Active Age Centre in Sussex Road, West Wickham. 10am - 2pm four days a week, food, drink and socials for the over 55's. Call 020 8777 5812 for more details.

Bromley Alcohol Advice.  Don't drink and drive but even if not driving, keep sensible limits of 14 units a week for women and 21 units a week for men. A unit is half a pint of beer, one glass of wine or a single measure of spirits.   If you need confidential help or advice about alcohol, contact Bromley Alcohol Advisory Service on: 020 8663 6883.

 

The Bromley Community Bereavement Service offers group or individual support in safe and welcoming surroundings.  Free advice is available on how to deal with the varied problems experienced during bereavement including guilt, anxiety, sadness, sleeping and eating problems. The Bromley Talking News. If you are blind or partially sighted and live in the London Borough of Bromley, you can be in touch through tape or CD, via the weekly free talking newspaper.  Sighted residents who have difficulty reading can receive the cassette/CD for the cost of the postage, all blind residents are supplied free of charge. Contact the Bromley and District Talking Newspaper Association at: Northlands, Freelands Grove, Bromley, Kent, BR1 3LH, telephone 020 8290 0085.

 

Bromley User Group, or BUG for short, is an informal advice, support and information service, as well as a pressure group, that aims to improve voluntary, private and state services for people who are using mental health services.
